When my son was old enough to pull toys out of his toy box, he was old enough to put them back, he was the same age he is now 3.5 yrs and puts his toys away when he has finished.

I think 15 month is a perfect time. Make it fun, sing a song, do it a race between you and her.

Also I always use the rule that one mess at the time. We can not bring a new toy out until the other one is already clean.

15 months is a great time to learn the cleanup song and help out.

my daughter was 12mths when she started cleaning up her toys.ere she hates a messy room. there were times when she wouldn’t stop crying until i was done cleaning mine.

I taught my kids when they started walking. My 1st daughter was walking at 6 months. Tho not very good at walking yet when she turned 7 months she was a pro and started cleaning her toys. With my second she was a walking pro at 7 months and started picking them up at 8 months.
My second wasnt walking until he was 13 months. Thats when he was picking his toys up. I have a 5 month old wo doesnt walk yet!
So I would say when she walks…thats when its time

My 19 month started helping to clean up his toys this month. I say clean up – and sing a clean up song. Of course he’s still pretty slow at it but I think its an important thing to teach. I make him clean up one toy before getting out another. This gives him motivation to clean it up and keeps the mess under control.

As soon as they can toddle I’d say!! I had my kids tossing blocks and toys in their bins as soon as they could walk.. They even tossed their own diapers in the trash after a change! Make it a game.. Get them used to it now and it’ll be easier later on! Mommy’s going to throw one in!! Now your turn!!!!

Children should start picking up toys with you as soon as their litle hands can grab hold of the toy. It should not be a "must clean" sort of thing, more of a "thanks for your help" kind of thing.
Making a game out of "clean-up time" seems to help the child want to be a part of it. There is a little song that you can sing while cleaning up toys and other messes with your children, "clean-up, clean-up, everybody clean-up", it is a repeat sort of song that is easy for children to imitate and learn.
